Unity Rising USA PAC Statement on Complaint Filed Against Turning Point Action and Turning Point PAC
Phoenix, AZ – Today, Unity Rising USA’s Executive Director, Jacob George, filed a complaint against Turning Point Action and Turning Point PAC (“Turning Point”) for apparent violations of the “Voters’ Right to Know” law designed to promote transparency and accountability in Arizona politics. Turning Point did not file disclosure reports required by Arizona law and failed to identify major contributors in mandatory disclosure statements included in media communications.
“Failing to properly disclose donors undermines the fairness and honesty Arizonans deserve from candidates and the partners supporting them. This isn’t the first time Turning Point has failed to follow the rules, and it probably won’t be the last”, said Unity Rising USA Executive Director Jacob George.
This is not the first complaint against Turning Point for violations of campaign finance laws at either the state or national level. As recently as November 2024, Turning Point Action was fined $18,000 by the Federal Elections Commission for violating federal campaign finance laws by failing to disclose more than $33,000 in reportable contributions. The FEC fine followed a 2021 complaint made by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics, a nonpartisan watchdog organization.
Even other Republicans have raised concerns about Turning Point’s conduct. Based on a complaint made by a Republican activist, Turning Point was previously investigated by the Arizona Secretary of State’s office for potential violations of Arizona campaign finance laws.
Arizonans overwhelmingly voted in favor of Prop 211, which requires groups to disclose the original sources of their funds when they spend more than $50,000 on media to influence statewide elections in any election cycle.
“Regardless of party, I think Arizonans expect everyone to play by the rules, especially after the years spent by Turning Point leadership decrying non-existent fraud in Maricopa County”, George added.
